Date Night at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Updated: Apr 6, 2022

It's our one month anniversary of being husband and wife so where do we go to celebrate? Boma at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Check out everything this hotel and restaurant have to offer as I take you along on our Disney date.

When you enter this gorgeous hotel you are greeted by cast members that fit the charm and theming of this hotel perfectly. This lobby may been of my all time favorites, second to Wilderness Lodge.

Located on the right is a staircase that leads to a small bar lounge. If you down one more flight you are face to face with Boma and close by, Jiko.

There is a map in the lobby that displays the different places to eat at the resort as well.

We made our reservation the day before and on Mother's Day just to give you an idea of the availability. The restaurant is fairly big so I feel that they have openings often.

We checked in and gave our phone number. We received a text about 10 minutes later saying that our table was ready to go. We were seated close to the middle of the buffet which made it easy to get up often to search for goodies.

Now for some food. Click here for the full dinner menu. Just a heads up, I am not the most adventurous when it comes to food and flavors, so oftentimes places like this scare me away. Chris and I had gone about a year or two before and did not remember it much so we definitely wanted to give it another try and I am so happy we did. There is just so much to choose from, even if you are a picky eater like me.

I always end up finding the kiddie section ( which was made up of macaroni and cheese, penne with meatballs and chicken tenders). I did try a lot of other stuff as well and all of it was just so delicious.

There drink menu features a large variety of mixed beverages as well as wine and beer. We chose to get fancy and order a Mai-Tai and a Bahama Mama. My Bahama Mama had a lot more pulp than I am used to so I most likely would not order that again. I have also had a magical star in the past and that was DELICIOUS. I will definitely be ordering that again on my next visit to the lodge.

Now onto desserts--my favorite. I was impressed with the amount of little bite-size desserts they offered at Boma. It was nice to be able to take a little bit of everything without having to waste it. Here is a look at what they had on the night we went: One of the most popular desserts they have are called Zebra Domes (pictured below-middle) They are also available at the quick service by the pool area for anyone visiting the resort.

We finished up our meal and decided to check out the rest of the resort. We went out the back and were so excited to see that it was feeding time for the giraffes and zebras.

Overall, I give Boma a 3.5/5 stars. I was super impressed by the quality of food and the large variety of choices. The service was incredible and they made sure that our special day was filled with Disney magic. I look forward to exploring more restaurants on property with my babe!

Let me know your favorite Disney restaurants in the comments below and hopefully we can try some this summer!

Have a magical day!
