December at Disney is always a dream, and our recent stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge this holiday season was no exception! Growing up, I spent many magical vacations at Wilderness Lodge with my mom, dad, and siblings --- and now, to bring my own family here has truly been a full-circle moment.

It’s amazing how much the resort has remained a special part of my life, and to be able to share that same experience with my little one is beyond heartwarming. We had the pleasure of booking our stay through David’s Vacation Club Rentals, and it was the perfect way to enjoy a deluxe Disney resort experience while saving some holiday budget for extra magic. Keep reading to see how you can save on your next trip!
Arrival and a Cozy Resort Crawl
The Wilderness Lodge immediately set the tone for a festive getaway with its rustic charm and stunning holiday decorations. From the towering Christmas tree in the lobby to the cozy, crackling fireplaces, every detail felt like stepping into a winter wonderland.

After settling into our room, which offered a breathtaking resort view overlooking the resort and pool, we kicked off our first night with a resort crawl alongside some of our closest friends. Resort hopping is such a fun way to explore the magic of Disney beyond your home resort. We began in our room with some festive drinks and treats and then from there our first stop was Geiser Point at our resort. From Wilderness Lodge, we took a boat to the Magic Kingdom and then decided to walk over to the nearby resorts, making it a little adventure night. The walk was beautiful, with twinkling holiday lights guiding our way. Besides, who doesn't love walking and hearing the sounds of Magic Kingdom in the background?
Next, we admired the elegance of the Grand Floridian’s holiday décor, complete with its iconic gingerbread house, and snuck in a drink at Narcoosees and Enchanted Rose. We then visited the Polynesian Village Resort and even got a sneak peek at the stunning new Polynesian Tower. We grabbed a drink from their brand-new bar and were blown away by the beautiful atmosphere and decor surrounding us. We were unable visit Contemporary on this particular evening, but we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to do so on a future trip. To get back to Wilderness Lodge, we retraced our steps: taking the boat back to Magic Kingdom and then catching the separate boat to our resort. While it might sound like a bit of effort, the journey itself was part of the fun and added to the magical atmosphere of the evening.
The Comfort of a 1-Bedroom Villa at Copper Creek
One of the highlights of our stay was the 1-bedroom villa in Copper Creek Villas. The layout was perfect for our family, offering a separate bedroom, a spacious living area, a fully equipped kitchen, and even a washer and dryer. It felt like having a cozy home base within the magic of Disney. Compared to a standard room, the extra space and amenities made all the difference, especially with a one-year-old in tow. We could prepare snacks, do laundry, and have a peaceful nap time in the separate bedroom without interrupting the rest of our activities. We also received a beautiful crib delivered to our room for our baby girl, complete with the cutest Mickey sheets.
Another major perk was being located in the main building. With the stunning Christmas tree right outside our door and the festive ambiance of the lobby, it felt like we were immersed in holiday magic at all times. It truly elevated the experience and made every moment feel extra special.

Day Two: Magic Kingdom and Relaxation
The next morning, we fueled up with a hearty breakfast at Roaring Fork. We enjoyed a Bounty Platter and a breakfast croissant sandwich, both of which were delicious and filling. You can’t go wrong with a Mickey waffle or two, either! Roaring Fork also offers specialty items like huge cinnamon rolls and bear claws, which were flying off the shelves. It was the perfect start to the day. Afterward, we hopped on the boat to Magic Kingdom. There’s something so special about arriving at the park by water, with the castle coming into view as you approach.

We made getting around easier by renting a stroller from Kingdom Strollers for our three day stay. The process was seamless: the stroller was waiting for us at our resort when we arrived, and we simply left it at the same location at the end of our stay for pickup. The stroller was super easy to pack and fold up when getting on the boat to Magic Kingdom, making transitions smooth and stress-free. It also came with helpful accessories like a rain cover and a cooler bag, making it convenient for long days at the park. Pricing was very reasonable, especially considering the convenience, and we highly recommend it for families traveling with little ones or needing extra storage space.
We spent a few magical hours in the park, soaking in the holiday atmosphere and enjoying a few of our favorite attractions. By mid-afternoon, we headed back to the resort to unwind. The pool area at Wilderness Lodge is such a serene spot, surrounded by towering pines and the gentle sound of waterfalls. Relaxing there was the perfect way to recharge. They do have a water splash pad area for kids, and although Brooklyn was a little scared of it this time around, I just know she will have fun in the next few years here!
In the late afternoon, we had a delightful little holiday photoshoot featuring beautiful dresses from Ivy City. The rich, earthy tones of the Wilderness Lodge made for the most picturesque backdrop. Whether by the fireplace, under the sparkling Christmas tree, or out by the peaceful lake, every shot felt like a holiday card come to life.
We wrapped up the day with some classic comfort food: pizza! Back in our room, we cozied up with a good Christmas movie, Disney-themed treats, and the magical glow of the resort’s holiday lights. Although we couldn’t see the fireworks from our room, we loved being able to hear the music piped into the main speakers at the resort. Plus, the walk to see the fireworks from the nearby bay is just a short 5-minute stroll away. As if that wasn’t enough, the Electrical Water Pageant floated by our balcony, adding a perfect touch of Disney magic to the evening. Watching the colorful floats light up the night from the comfort of our room was such a treat.

Day Three: Exploring and Family Time

On our final day, we checked out of our room but made the most of our remaining time at the Wilderness Lodge. We took a leisurely walk around the resort, soaking in the fresh air and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Dropping off the Kingdom Stroller was a breeze—we simply left it at the designated location, and the process couldn’t have been easier. Spending those last few hours outside as a family was the perfect way to end our trip before heading back home.
